Cebuanos bag seven golds in Manila dancefest

CEBU, Philippines - Dancesport-Team Cebu City grabbed seven golds, six silvers and three bronzes in the 2009 DSCPI National Mid-Ranking and Competition at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City the other night.

Charlea Lagaras and Ronnie Vergara spearheaded Cebu’s golden showing as they outsmarted former RP Team members as well as fellow Cebuana Dearlie Gerodias and long-time partner Errol Melencio to rule the premiere latin amateur class.

On the other hand, Maricris Hermosa made her presence felt once again as she and little-known Joseph Salandagit reigned supreme in the standard’s special event. They also got a bronze in the latin-male action.

Two other tandems handed DTCC gold medals. Roque and Rhea Marquez lorded it over in the youth C latin, while Sunrish Jive Conde and Cheska Marie Anoza topped the juvenile latin category.

Virgiani Oyao and Jefferson Pimentel produced gold in the youth A latin. It was actually a 1-2-3 finish for DTCC in the said class with the Marquez siblings placing second and Inoue Roi Rendon and Christy Kim Velez winding up third.

Mae Lozada and Alselmo Estillore also pulled one big surprise as they won the latin B class.

The seventh gold from Alexander Montero and Elizabeth Zetz via the senior C latin. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
