Surban tops mountainbike event in Run and Bike tilt

-

CEBU, Philippines - Nino Surban once again caught the spotlight as he dominated the premiere open division of the mountainbike event of the 1st Run and Bike For Freedom at the South Road Properties yesterday.

Surban of the Danao City Sports Commission and DFC Cyclone 1 had a convincing victory in the combined junior-senior class or the open category.

Some gutsy riders tried to block Surban’s way until the last four laps of the 10-lap race when he eventually pulled away from the pack.

Surban never looked back from there to win the race in 22 minutes and 35.83 seconds.

Randy Carbonera trailed Surban with a 23:01.63 clocking, while Albert Basirgo came out third with the time of 23:20.76.

Surban’s buddy Earl Vince Cadampong placed fourth with 23:51.21, while Randy Carbonera’s brother Roy ended fifth in 24:25.23.

Nilo Barbalose, on the other hand, ruled the masters class of the event organized by the Cebu City Sports Commission in association with Sports and Fitness Enthusiasts (SAFE). He clocked in 12:32.70.

Melencio Java wound up second in12:24.25 followed by Jonas Ponseca in 12:58.99.

In the executive class, Oman Suplig got the top spot with the time of 10:31.31. Wilmar Andrino wound up second in 10:46.39 followed by Dave Manigo in 10:53.01.
