Carcar seizes inter-town crown in Galeos caging

-

CEBU, Philippines – Carcar completed a two-game sweep of Boljoon, 92-75, to capture the inter-town championship in the 1st Mayor Edsel Galeos Cup 2009 summer basketball tournament at the Diosdado Macapagal Sports and Cultural Center in Argao, Cebu.

Earlier, Oslob defeated Sibonga, 105-94, to settle for third place.

In the inter-zonal category, Poblacion-C cooled off the Firebulls, 102-63, to forge a rubbermatch in their own best-of-three finals series.

Carcar used a blistering second quarter rally to tear the game apart with an 18-point advantage at halftime, 54-36. The lead snowballed into 26 points after the third period, 78-56, and the rest they say is history.

Ex-USC Warrior Danny Infantado and Clifford Bargamento finished with 16 points apiece for Carcar, while Klent Florido and TJ Napolitano chipped in 14 and 12 points, respectively.

It was a double celebration for Florido as he romped off with the MVP award. He automatically made it to the Mythical Five alongside Donnel Solon, Gilbert Andujar, Infantado and Napolitano. Andujar led Boljoon with 19 points.
