CBM retains little in CCSC swimfest

CEBU, Philippines – The Cebu Blue Marlins Swim Club of coach Rolando Alvarez bested seven other squads to retain its title in the CBM-Cebu City Sports Center Novice Swim Meet over the weekend at the CCSC Aquatic Center.

The Cebu Swimming Instructors Asssociation placed second followed by Villa Teresita Swimming Team. Two out-of-town entries in Negros Oriental Blue Dolphins and the Dipolog Blue Marlins wound up fourth and fifth, respectively.

Virchar Bautista led CBM’s charge by sweeping all six golds at stake in the 18-above class. His female counterpart in Danica Camille Ramos was also impressive with four golds, one silver and one bronze.

Justin Daniel Junio, the brave young swimmer who crossed the Mactan Channel two years ago, is now trying his luck in the regular swimming pool under the aegis of CBM. He readily made an impact by fishing out four golds and two silvers in the boys 7-8 class.

Junio, along with Bautista, Joshua Rosada, and Federico Garganera, also powered CBM to a golden finish in the 4x50m freestyle relay.

The other medal contributors for CBM were Joebert Indaya with five golds and a silver in the 6-under class, Timothy Gabriel Villabert with a gold, two silvers and two bronzes in the 9-10 bracket, Joshua Rosada with six golds (11-12), Federico Garganera with three golds, two silvers and a bronze (13-14), and Adrian Joshua Tej with four silvers and two bronzes in the 15-17 age classification.

In the girls side, Schindlerie Villabert donated two golds and three silvers (9-10), Theresa Lyn Chu produced six silvers (11-12), and Kerien Aimer Alvarez snatched five golds and a bronze (15-17). — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
