Centennial Hardware, Young Builders make semis
CEBU, Philippines – Centennial Hardware '95 and Young Builders '91 terminated separate foes to complete the semifinal cast in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association's 11th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup last Thursday evening at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.
Class '95 spared no mercy in thrashing PTT Lubricants 2005, 83-60, while Class '91 rode on a sizzling offensive in the first half to boot out Chester Enteprises '82/83.
Class '95 led by just two points after the first period, 14-12, but consistently pummeled the hapless Class 2005 as the game progressed.
The Centennial Hardware-backed squad padded its lead to six at the break, 31-25, outscored Class 2005 in the third period, 26-19, and closed the game with a 26-16 bang for the 23-point blowout.
Flashy guard Donald Anthony Ting topscored for Class '95 with 22 points even as three others dished out double figures. Joseph James Yu chipped in 12 markers, while Archie Gue and Dean Dy Teves added 21 points combined.
Kristoffer Dennis Lee paced Class 2005 with 15 points, while Kenneth Ang and Philip John Lua scored 11 apiece in a losing cause.
Earlier, Class '91 kept Class '82/83 at bay since taking a nine-point advantage at the intermission, 33-24.
Tommy Yu scattered 22 points for Class '91 followed by Juan Borromeo, Jr. with 12. Stephen Tan topped Class '82/83 with 15 points and Edwin Lim had 14.
