Borden tops Honda One-Make Race

CEBU, Philippines – Junjun Borden bannered the list of top winners in the OZ Racing-organized 1st Honda One-Make Race last Sunday at Parkmall.

Borden of Kamigawa Racing dominated the expert open category after edging out Nino Surban of the Danao City-based BFC Cyclone.

Gary Cañeda placed third, while RJ Manlise of Bradz Racing and Andoy Sanchez of Club Motorista wound up fourth and fifth, respectively.

Borden was joined on the podium by Juno Villena, Juval “Buyog” Abellar, Lyndone Requilme, and Gary Cañeda.

Villena of Team Honda topped the super beginners category. He was trailed by Adrian Morato of Kamigawa Racing and Consiso Cañeda. Independent rider Joseph Plantar was fourth followed by Renato Sala of Team Cyrus.

Abellar of Team Motofix as emerged the best racer in the beginners 110cc. The next fourth spots were occupied by Adrian Morato of Kamigawa Racing, Ranulfo Colina of Pidot Racing Team, Villena of Honda, and Julius Cabrera of Moto Trekker.

Requilme of Team MAC lorded it over in the beginners 125cc. Dan Condeno of Team Motofix landed at second place followed by David Tan of BFC Cyclone-Danao, Rommel Paz, and Wenmart Salde.

It was a double celebration for Requilme as he also dominated the Inter-Club Team Race. Honda’s Villena and Macky Sakmar finished second, while MTM’s Math Cenarlo and Eugene Cafe settled for third. Rene Sala and JR Sanchez of Team Cyrus copped the fourth place honors followed by URBC’s Teodorico Caballes and Estefanio Barbac, Jr.

Gary Cañeda did not go home empty-handed as he snatched the champion’s trophy in the novice open. Surban was second followed by Requilme, RJ Manlisa of Bradz Racing Team, and Enrique Adol of Pidot Racing Team.

On hand to award the cash prizes, medals, plaques and assorted freebies to the winners were OZ Racing President Zandro Fajardo and Honda Motor World Inc. general manager Jose Daniel “Jonel” Borromeo. — EBV (THE FREEMAN)
