UAP District C1 sportsfest on Sunday

-

CEBU, Philippines – The certified architects in Cebu hope to further strenghten their bond and fellowship by staging the first ever United Architects of the Philippines (UAP)-District C1 Sportsfest 2009 this Sunday at the City Sports Club of Cebu.

Close to 100 architects from different UAP chapters in this portion of the archipelago are expected to see action and try to outdo each other in four athletic disciplines - badminton, bowling, billiards (9-ball), and 3-on-3 basketball.

“Our main purpose in holding this event is to promoote fellowship and camaraderie among architects in Cebu through physical fitness,” said tournament chairman Jay-R Decatoria in a press conference the other day at Red Moon Cafe in Brgy. Banilad, this city.

UAP District Director Alan G. Choachuy, for his part, said they are planning to make the sportsfest an annual undertaking to help promote a healthy lifestyle and a balanced physical well-being amongst them.

“This is really our plan to put together all our sporting events to make the competition more exciting because more architects will be able to participate. We will hold this on a yearly basis,” said Choachuy, himself award-winning sportsman.

Some members of the local media have been invited to join the one-day contest, which is supported by Boysen Paints.

For more information, one may keep in touch with Decatoria at 0927-7916532/0922-4779290 or Raya Espinosa at 0919-4255935/0923-2515731.

The rest of the contact persons are Peter Bordador (0922-5520110) for billiards, Christopher Dy (0917-3255880) for bowling, Dennis Mayo (0915-5754369 or 0922-8317980) for badminton, and Paolo Alberto (0917-5091468) for basketball.

Registration fee is pegged at P100 per player. (THE FREEMAN)
