CEBU, Philippines – After several attempts, Paolo Inoc finally got what he dreamed of as he claimed the expert title of the 7th Mayor Mariano Martinez Cup, which served as the eighth leg of the 2009 MS Motosuit Motocross Series in San Remigio the other day.
What made Inoc’s victory even sweeter was that he beat former Rider of the Year awardee Juvanni Abellar. Clark Wagas settled for third place honors.
Wagas and Inoc though exchanged places in the intermediate class, with the former winning the title and Inoc placing third. Another Abellar, Jubenile won the second place.
Seigfred Ornopia, the reigning ROY awardee in this Castrol Philippines-supported series, and Donkey Sanchez both scored a double victory.
Ornopia dominated the beginners open production over Ryan Querol and Donkey Sanchez and the executive A over Aloy Igot and Jun Enriquez.
Sanchez and Enriquez didn’t feel sorry for losing to Ornopia as they also had their share of the limelight.
Sanchez won the open enduro over Ayen Ledesma and Boni Bustillo and then the novice open production title against Ryan Querol and Ornopia.
Enriquez, for his part, won the executive B action over Nonoy Reluya, while Aloy Igot ended third.
In the executive C, the top three finishers were Dr. Felipe Montejo, Roscel Gungob, and Sergio Chua. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
