Don Bosco bags two titles in Inter-Club football
CEBU, Philippines - Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) celebrated with a double title in the week-long 2009 CAFC National Inter-Club Football Championships which came to a close yesterday at the University of San Carlos-Technological Center in Brgy. Talamban, this city.
After bagging the boys 10-under crown the other day, DBTC topped the 14-under class with a 5-0 rout of Pomeroy.
Christian Agot handed DBTC's lone goal in the first half. Valentino Calvo went on a scoring spree and completed a hat-trick in the final half, while Junjay Arrizabal logged the fifth and final goal for the triumphant Bosconians.
It was a triple celebration for Don Bosco as Agot got the "Golden Boot award for being the best striker.
Another DBTC player, Joseph Mercado, ran away with the coveted Most Valuable Player trophy as well as the best midfielder accolade in their age bracket, while teammate Rafael de Guzman was adjudged as the best goal keeper.
After a humiliating experience in boys 14-under final, Pomeroy vented its ire on the visiting Davoeño booters, 1-0, to lord it over in the boys 17-under division. Carlito Abadia sank the game-winning goal for Pomeroy. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
