Siso siblings top Gullas tennis

- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -

CEBU, Philippines - It's a double-double for the Sisos in the 14th Gullas Cup tennis tournament with Sallymae and Nino winning a pair of titles at the Cebu Country Club yesterday.

The much-anticipated Sallymae-Sallydine Siso final battle in the girls 18-under saw Sallymae winning the title in lopsided fashion,6-0,6-2.

Earlier, Sallymae also took away the girls 16-under crown at the expense of General Santos City’s Cindy Gerapusco,6-0.6-0.

Sallymae had other reason to celebrate as she got the P10,000 worth of Babolat racquet for becoming the Most Outstanding Player.

Like Sallymae, Nino Siso swept the boys 16 and 18-under titles.

Nino defeated Dumanjug’s Franklin Encarnacion, 6-1,6-2.

Encarnacion wanted to avenge to his defeat against Nino Siso during the boys 18-under, but the more he tried the weaker he got.

Siso clobbered Encarnacion via a 6-0,6-0 whitewash.

It was actually an all-Cebuano domination in the Gullas Cup.

John Godfrey Seno of Bogo, the first tennister to get a finals ticket, kicked away Palawan ’s Alexi Santos,6-2,6-3 in the unisex 10-under class.

Tuburan’s Hardie Montecillo, for his part, outsmarted Christopher Encarnacion,6-3,6-1 to clinch the boys 12-under title.

Fritz Satera also made sure he gets a champion’s trophy by topping the boys 14-under with a 6-4,6-1 victory over Kurt Gerapusco of Gen-San,6-4,6-1.

Crissianne Issa Kintanar lived up to expectations after surviving Palawan's Alexie Santos, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3, in the girls 12-under finals of this PHILTA-sanctioned Group 2 event.

Exhausted from that game, Kintanar bowed to Hannah Grace Espinosa in the girls 14 championship, 6-4, 2-6, 7-6. -  THE FREEMAN
