CEBU, Philippines - The promising netters from the San Carlos Seminary (SANCASE)-based Fr. Rey Talaugon Developmental Training Pool reigned supreme in the 2009 Prince Age-Group Tennis Championships at the Cebu Country Club.
The Siso siblings Niño and Sallymae caught the biggest chunk of the spotlight by posting a double championship both in the 16 and 18-under classes.
Niño dumped Joseph Tallo, 6-1, 6-1 to claim the boys 18-under title and then whipped Franklin Encarnacion via the same verdict in the 16-under final.
In the distaff side, Sallymae overpowered her elder sister Sallydine, 6-2, 6-1 to snatch the 18-under crown. Prior to that, she overwhelmed Hannah Espinosa, 6-0, 6-2 to lord it over in the 16-under bracket.
Two other members of Fr. Talaugon training pool in John Godfrey Seno and Fritz Satera salvaged a title each.
Seno outlasted Alexis Santos, 6-4, 6-4 to clinch the unisex 10-under plum, while Satera subdued Kurt Gerapusco, 6-1, 6-0, in the boys 14-under.
The girls 12 and 14-under crowns were swept by Crissianne Issa Kintanar, while the boys 12-under diadem went to Hardie Montecillo. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
