CEBU, Philippines - The ninth edition of one of Cebu’s highly-anticipated football events, the Cebu Amateur Football Club (CAFC) National Inter-Club Football Cup, will kick off today in three different venues. These are the University of San Carlos-Technological Center (USC-TC) in Talamban, San Roque Parish field in Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City and PAREF-Springdale in Brgy. Lahug.
The formal opening ceremony, however, will take place on Sunday yet.
The tournament features six classes with the addition of 10 and 12-under age classification.
San Roque plays host to the under-14 and 17, while Springdale will have the 10 and 12 class. San Carlos will have the men’s open and the 38-under division.
The competing squads in the men’s open are the visiting Davao FC, QC (the combined forces of Queen City and Crazy Horse), Bohol, UC-Erco, Inter-Cebu FC and Hiroshi, while the entries in the 38-above category include the QC-A and B, Hiroshi, San Roque Football Club, and Army Team 53.
Vying for top honors in the 17-under are the Inter-Cebu FC, Springdale, Don Bosco Technology Center, Pomeroy-Abellana National School, Blessed John XXIII Seminary, CIC Mandaue, and Davao FC, while seeing action in the 14-under are FCIC, DBTC, Sacred Heart School-Jesuit, ANS-Pomeroy, Canduman and BJS.
