Cobras close in on final in Toledo cagefest

CEBU, Philippines – The Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras battered the Asian College of Technology (ACT) Cyber Knights, 83-55, in the opener of their best-of-three semifinals to move a win away from advancing into the championship of the 1st Vice Mayor Rudy Espinosa Cup basketball tournament at the Barba Sports Complex in Toledo City.

The Cobras are the reigning CESAFI Partner’s Cup title-holder and back-to-back champions in the National Inter-Collegiate Championships, with the latest being held in Butuan City two weeks ago.

No one from the Cyber Knights was able to stop Eric Zanoria and the rest of the Cobras, who were in synch that they were having a balanced offense despite the absence of star playmaker Eliud Poligrates.

Zanoria led the Cobras with 20 points followed by Rene Pacquiao with 10 markers.

In the inter-ballclub categroy, the Blanc Blow defeated the CCC Staff, 94-90.
