Manoc-manoc stays hot in Growee Beach Games

BORACAY ISLAND, Philippines – Team Manoc-manoc kept on hauling golds as it dominated the beach rapid chess and beach volleyball events in the 1st Growee Pinoy Beach Games at Hotel Isla in Boracay Island.

In beach rapid chess, Team Manoc-manoc’s Junea Busita and Mae Antonio reigned supreme in the girls 10-under and 12-under divisions, respectively.

In the boys bracket, Joshua Gregorio won in the 12-under while Rusel Layog topped the 14-under class.

After bagging two golds the other day, Ralph Lorence Salsona grabbed his third gold in the 10-under boys triple jump with a distance of 7.84 meters.

Team Manoc-manoc’s beach volley team also bested 3M’s, 25-18, to rule the 12-under boys category.

Its 10-under and 14-under boys beach volley teams are also on course in their gold medal quest as they swept their elimination round matches.

On the other hand, 3M’s nailed four golds in beach athletics.

Ma. Jessa Tuazon and Michaela Eralino took the long jump girls 12-under (3.85 m) and 10-under (3.7 m) while Thomas Monte Carlo triumphed in the boys 10-under with 3.79 m.

Team Malabunot’s Maming siblings Jocel and Gloria, topped the 14-under boys (4.9 m) and girls (3.7 m) categories, respectively, while Arnold Maming took the lone gold in the 14-under boys triple jump (8.57 m).

Team Balabag recovered from its first day set back by grabbing three golds from Jomer Gabon in 12-under boys triple jump and long jump and Jessica Erin in the 12-under girls triple jump. — Marigold P. Lebumfacil (THE FREEMAN)
