- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -

TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines — It’s still a wait-and-see for Central Visayas and the rest as far as their final overall standings in the 2009 Palarong Pambansa are concerned with the some sporting events still to be finished today here at the Leyte Sports and Development Center.

CVIRAA yesterday salvaged six golds, eight silvers and six bronzes from different sporting events.

The highlight of the day for CVIRAA,however, is its grandslam victory in girls elementary volleyball, thanks to the efforts of Catmon Elementary School volleybelles who proved superior over the equally-talented West Visayas region, 25-11,25-21.

Their male counterparts however lost in their final battle to ARMM, 25-18,26-24.

In sepak takraw, CVIRAA won the title in the secondary division.

CVIRAA’s elementary baseball settled with a silver and so did the 36-kgs boxer Bob Bacus who lost in the championship match over a bet from NMRAA.

Over at the LSDC, the fastest man of the Palaro, Daniel Noval of CVIRAA proved too much for his opponents following a golden finish in the 200m run while its 4x100m relay team ended with a bronze.

The Siso siblings also got their target with Nino Siso retaining supremacy in the secondary boys singles while his sisters Sallymae and Sallydine won the girls doubles gold.

Table netter Dannel Jay Tormis also won a gold from the singles competition.

Other medals of the day for CVIRAA came from Tracy Badonio with two silvers from the elementary gymnastics hoop and ribbon and Mary Carmeli Garrovillo with two silvers from the hoop and ball.

Swimmer Loren Dale Echavez ended with another bronze through the 200m freestyle, while Daniel Mae Ballesteros with a bronze in the 100-m breaststroke. – THE FREEMAN
