Salvador sweeps Medellin triathlon event

CEBU, Philippines – Noel Salvador romped off with a double victory in the 1st Medellin Fiesta Triathlon and Duathlon Competition over the weekend.

Salvador, who hails from Bacolod City, topped the triathlon event with the time of one hour, 15 minutes, and five seconds, while Cebuano Gerrie Calinawan placed second in 1:15:52. Noy Jopson landed third in 1:16:50.

Elmo Claraval won the senior 20 class over former top swimmer Ralph Arche as Jose Uy came out third, while the seniors 30 was dominated by Warren Vergara followed by Eugene Sanchez and Lyndon Dongallo.

Ric Dizon topped the masters competition over Jun Villamor, while the mountainbike class was ruled by Rico Valentin, with Jenerry Simbahon and Perlito Colegado settling for second and third, respectively.

Job Cereño lorded it over in the Medellin’s local open category, while Dexter Diola emerged the best in the aided division.

After a short rest, Salvador plunged back into action in the duathlon competition. For him, it was a right decision as he won the battle with a 1:06 clocking.

Elmo Claraval wound up second in 1:16:39, while Nonoy Jopson came up with another third place finish with a 1:17:17 clocking.

In the distaff side, Janice Bautista clinched the top spot with the time of 1:33:39, while Nicole Palicte finished second in 1:40:45.
