Class '96 demolishes '89/93 in CECABA hoop

CEBU, Philippines - Armed with superior strength and manpower, Roadstar/Castrol '96 easily manhandled Gregoria's Curtains and Trim Haus '89/93, 75-38, in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association's 11th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup last Friday night at the CEC gym.

After posting a 16-point advantage at halftime, 36-20, Class '96 kept on clobbering Class '89/93 at will on the way to a 37-point blowout.

Rogelio Donayre had 20 points and two rebounds, while Dreyfuss Ang added 19 points, six rebounds, six assists and two steals as Class '96 notched its 10th victory against a solitary defeat.

Rommel Tiu had 12 points and seven rebounds, while Edwin Ong recorded his first double with 11 points and 13 rebounds for Class '89/93, which crashed to its 10th loss with only one win to show.

In the other game, MFL Mini-Mart '98-A squeaked past GCM Merchandise '98-B, 75-71, to even its win-loss record to 6-6.

Class '98-A trailed by a hairline early on, 18-19, but staged a daring 25-12 rally in the second period to grab the lead for good at the intermission, 43-31.

Erick Andrew So scattered 28 points on top of five rebounds, five assists and two steals for Class '98-A. Rex Millan added 21 points and three steals, while Paul Timothy So had 15 points, five assists, four rebounds, and three steals.

Leovigildo Yu netted 23 points, while Robinson Yap scored 15 points on top of 13 rebounds, three blocks and two steals for Class '98-B, which fell to 5-6. Jed Lawrence Co also finished with 15 points, six rebounds, and four steals in a losing cause.
