Argao zaps Dalaguete in Galeos Cup hoopla
CEBU, Philippines – Host Argao dumped the visiting Dalaguete squad, 88-77, in the inter-town division of the Mayor Edsel Galeos Cup 2009 summer basketball tournament at the new President Diosdado Macapagal Sports and Cultural Center in Argao, Cebu.
Giovanni Getalaga and Kenneth Jay Allawan spearheaded Argao’s offense with 22 and 16 points, respectively. They drew the much-needed support from Tyrone Birondo, Adrian Tapere and Janjan Cahilig with 33 points combined.
Dalaguete’s Dennis Selerio topscored with 18 points.
In the zonal category, the Simple Minds blasted the Poblacion Looc Wrigglers, 120-58 - by far the biggest winning margin in the tournament.
In the same category, Cabalbotal clobbered the Mountain Eagles, 82-67.
Seven players from Simple Minds finished in double figures led by Christian Lopez with a game-high 20 points.
Only Arlon Cahilig scored with twin digits with 12 points for the Looc Wrigglers.
On the other hand, Gilbert Manlapiz and Jeffrey Enclonar led Cabalbotal with 12 points each, while the Mountain Eagles were led by Pipoy Abella with 14 markers.
