CEBU, Philippines – First ACY Shipping 2006 finally barged into the win column after edging out Schick Razor ’84/92, 60-54, in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association’s 11th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup last Saturday evening at the CEC gym.
The game went down the wire, but Class 2006 proved to be a tough nut to crack at crunchtime on the way to snap out of its eight-game losing streak.
Nolsie John Cisneros pumped in 27 points, six assists, five steals and four rebounds for Class 2006. Ralph Victor Yap and Raffy Carlo Tan donated 12 points apiece.
Sammy Sia and Ryan Ordes each scored 15 points for Class ’84/92, which fell to 2-7.
In the other game, Young Builders ’91 mercilessly clobbered Cebu Diamond Auto Parts 2000, 76-45, to even its win-loss card to 5-5.
From a sizzling 14-5 start, Class ’91 battered the hapless Class 2000 at will in the remaining quarters. Their lead grew to 29 points at the end of the third period, 61-32, before ending in a 31-point demolition.
Chester Benedict Go paced Class ’91 with 16 points, six rebounds, and two assists. Emerson Go and Peter Michael de la Torre dished out 13 markers apiece, while Roger Crisologo finished with 10 points.
Boltron scattered 17 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and two steals but his efforts went for naught as Class 2000 suffered its eighth loss in 11 games.
