Cebuano judokas win bronze medals in Manila tilt

CEBU, Philippines - Two Cebuano judokas bagged one bronze each in the 2009 National Judo Seniors Championships at the SM City-Marikina yesterday.

They were Allan Antigua and Bryan Canillo, who are both mainstays of the University of Cebu and coached by one of RP’s future judo stars in Nonoy Fernandez.

Antigua placed third in the -60 kilograms class, while Canillo got his bronze in the -65 kgs.division.

It was the first time that Antigua competed in the seniors category and Canillo’s second try.

Meanwhile, it will be the turn of Cebu’s top junior judokas to showcase their wares in the National Juniors Judo Championships next month at a still undisclosed venue. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
