Second CCG tourney opens today in Bohol

CEBU, Philippines - After Cebu, it’s time for the young Boholanos to showcase their wares in the Children’s Community Games at the Carlos P. Garcia Sports and Cultural Complex in Tagbilaran City today.

Philippine Sports Commissioner Fr. Vicente “Vic” L. Uy, SVD, the man behind the event, will lead the opening ceremony this morning.

The Bohol edition will be a bit different from the inaugural staging in Cebu City late last year. From the barangayan format, it will now be a battle between LGUs with Maribojoc, Loay and host Tagbilaran City going for the overall crown.

Although it is only a three-way fight, PSC-7 coordinator Danilo Villadolid said the selection of athletes is wider, thus, a more exciting battle looms ahead.

Three sports are also added this time in amateur boxing, sipa and taekwondo. The rest of the events include athletics, table tennis, badminton, basketball, chess and volleyball. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
