CEBU, Philippines – The promising Cebuano netters from SANCASE Developmental Training Pool boosted their campaign for overall supremacy with 10 of them advancing into the semifinal round of the 2009 Head Penn Age-Group Tennis Tournament yesterday at the Praxivilla tennis courts in Dumaguete City.
Five others rolled into the quarterfinals, but nine have already proceeded into the exit door.
The Siso siblings, supported by businessman-sportman Jonathan "Atan" L. Guardo, Dunlop and Tavo’s Sports, led the cast of the Cebuano semifinalists.
Nino Siso got two semis tickets after defeating Jun Yanoc 6-2, 6-0 in the boys 18 class and Paulo Baran, 6-3, 6-1 in the boys 16, while Sallymae disposed fellow Cebuana Hannah Grace Espinosa, 6-1, 6-4 to set up a showdown with another teammate Kimberly Uytico, who advanced with a 6-2, 6-0 thrashing of Carlene Pinili in the girls 16.
Sallymae and her elder sister Sallydine hope to win their quarterfinal round assignments in the girls 18 to bring more honors for Cebu.
Joining the Sisos in the penultimate round were Cyril Camporedondo, Cheska Tabotabo, the Mayor Junie Martinez-supported Jan Godfrey Seno and Fritz Satera, Francis Lambayan and Beverly Enriquez.
