MS Motosuit Motocross: Aguilar rules night supercross

- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -

CEBU, Philippines – Despite suffering an injury, Glenn Aguilar scored a double victory in the historic night supercross under the MS Motosuit Motocross Series at the Consolacion Sports Complex the other day.

Aguilar displayed the real essence of a professional rider as he shook off the pain of an ACL injury in Castrol Power 1-sponsored competition.

Aguilar, who took part in his first race for this season’s MS Motosuit event displayed fine form as he left the opposition behind in both the pro and expert divisions.

Bornoc Mamosong, a gutsy rider from Davao, came second overall in the pro race behind Aguilar while the returning Jubenile Abellar was third.

After the pro race, though limping, Aguilar who has gained some weight after skipping many motorcross, gave the fans something to cheer about as he took off his jersey and gave it away.

That wasn’t the end of his show that night as he also crossed the finish line first in the expert class.

Second place in the expert category went to Shawn Lim while Weng Yapparcon landed third.

Glenn’s son McLean proved that he has the same genes as he overcame mechanical trouble with his bike to win the 85 cc mini class.

Second place went to TJ Alberto while Brylle Ornopia wound up third.

Brylle later won the title in the peewee open competition over Peewee and PJ Galla, sons of Dodong Galla, a motocross coach. BJ Pepito and Troy Alberto took the fourth and fifth spots respectively.

Brylle’s siblings Ken Kerry and Earl Jean also made their parents proud by finishing first and third in the peewee 6-under class with Vinz Batuta placing second while Atong Mamosong reigned in the mini 65 cc class.

Their father, Seigfred Ornopia, showed where Brylle and his brothers got the winning form as he topped the executive A action over Gener Sicad while Jun Enriquez settled for third.

Sicad, though, got the executive B title over Edsel Gohitia while Enriquez again settled for third place.

Joy Jocson took the executive C title over Dan Gastador.

Donkey Sanchez, made up for his losses in the first two legs as he took two titles.

Sanchez topped the local enduro class over Nikko Redulla and the open enduro title against Dario Labor.

Robertino Con-ui won the novice open production class while Ryan Querol and Joseph del Socorro were in second and third places respectively.

Another Mindanao-based rider, Usama Dimaporo, also went home with a success story to tell as he got the beginner’s open production crown while Ryan Querol was second and Keith Galaura placed third.

Atong Mamosong, also from Mindanao, won the mini 85 cc class over Rey Querol and JR Tagaluguin, who were at second and third respectively.

Ambo Yapparcon ruled the intermediate class over his brother Weng in this event also supported by Andy and Teddy Uy of Reliance Motor Sales, Cebu Progress Marketing, Keiz BJ and RMO MotorSales. –THE FREEMAN
