Roble Shipping sweeps first round in Sunriser and Powerball cagefest

CEBU, Philippines – Roble Shipping of businessman George Uy dumped Vic Enterprises of Jerome Uy, 118-96, to complete a first round sweep in the Sunriser and Powerball Friendship Cup 2009 basketball tournament at the CEC gym.

George Uy erupted early and drilled in three triples of his 13 points to help Roble Shipping score a 22-point blowout.

Triggerman Jingjing Rama dished out 12 assists for Roble Shipping aside from scoring 11 points.

It was Ruel Sestoso though who topscored for Roble Shipping with 34 points, 20 of which in the payoff period.

Veteran forward Boy Mranga ang Sonny Mengana conspired with 43 points but their efforts proved futile as Vic Enterprises suffered its second straight loss in as many games.

In the other game, the Paul Quiñanola-led Unilink Shipping smothered Powerball, 99-93, to log its second win in three games.

Bandoy Anadon led Unilink with 21 points, while Louie Navarro chipped in 16 markers. Danrey Baclay and Panis Gerali each added 11 points.

Vergel Fuentes paced Powerball with 27 points followed by Cris Cabaluna with 17.
