Sabuga-Lo tandem tops Alta Vista Feb. Monthly Medal

CEBU, Philippines - The tandem of Loloy Sabuga and Roger Lo topped division I of last Saturday’s February Monthly Medal at Alta Vista Golf and Country Club, which was a two-man team scramble event.

Sabuga and Lo had nines of 30 and 33 for a score of 63 strokes. 

Second place went to the duo of Ed Yap and Jufil Sato with nines for 30 and 34 for a total of 64. 

The duo of Alex Yeo and Tony Amor took third place honors with a total of 65 strokes on nines of 31 and 34.

In Division II, the pair of club treasurer Ramon Sebastian and Willy Lim took the title with a total score of 68 and nines of 32 and 36.

Second place went to the team of Rey Dira and Jun Mendoza with even-par 72 (36-36) after beating the pair of club president Oly Dychangco and director Vicente Go in the countback. 

Dychangco and Go combined for nines of 35 and 37 to settle for third place.

Koreans Jack Lee and Jung Sung Ha topped division III with a score of 72 strokes on nines of 35 and 37.

Second place went to the pair of Koreans Michael Song and Angela Park with 73 (35-38) and third went to Rolly Santos and Tony Sikimhua with 77 (38-39).

In the guest division, Ed Jones and Jimmy Wong scored four-under-par 68 to win the title. They had nines of 31 and 37. Second place went to the team of Dino Yap and Angelo Marquez with 71 on nines of 34 and 37.

Special prizes went to Benjie Hortelano for nearest the pin on hole number six where he left 9 feet and 3 inches for a birdie putt.

Ely Espinosa had the longest putt on the 8th hole. — NLQ (THE FREEMAN)
