Action in 1st M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala Cup shifts tonight in Lapu-Lapu

CEBU, Philippines -  The 1st M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala Cup basketball tournament visits the Pajo gym in Lapu-Lapu City tonight with host Adis Sportswear going up against the San Remigio Beach Club. Adis Sportswear hopes to bounce back from its opening day loss to the CSD Power Brokers last Sunday at the USC-Main gym.

In the opener, the Hapee-Online of coach Mark Anthony Tallo tests the Perfect Freight Logistics bannered by Jonas Panerio.

Tournament director Mike Roma yesterday said that the games on Sunday will be played at the Consolacion Sports Complex in an effort to bring the league closer to the grassroots, which is the primary objective of the M.Lhuillier Cup.

Tomorrow’s games will feature the Power Brokers of coach Romy Cal, who are eyeing their second straight win when they square off against strong title contender Asian College of Technology (ACT) Cyber Knights of veteran coach Tata Merced.

The other game will pit the Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology (SIT) Skyblazers against the 24/7 Convenience Store owned by Hermes Abadia, father of ex-UC and PBL star Mark Abadia.

Meanwhile, Roma said two more teams are interested to join the tournament namely ACES of coach Al Solis and Time Out-Talisay of coach Rex Salvaña. (GGM) (THE FREEMAN)
