DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines – Perennial champion Cebu is all set to defend its throne as this year’s Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) Regional Meet unfolds today here.
Over 200 athletes, coaches and officials formed part of the PRISAA-Cebu contingent, which will go up against the best of Negros Oriental and Bohol in the three-day action.
Cebu will field entries in almost all sports except for softball and baseball.
Just like last year, Cebu is represented mainly by champion teams of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI). The basketball squad is comprised of players from the University of San Jose-Recoletos, University of San Carlos and Southwestern University.
Although the Cebuanos consistently emerged as the overall champion, they have no longer been able to sweep all events they participated in.
Gone are the days when games have become predictable and spectators would easy pick up the Cebuanos to win the match even before the action started.
This is because the top tertiary athletes of Bohol and Negros Oriental have improved a lot. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
