CEBU, Philippines - RJX Transport Solutions ’99 sustained its hot streak with a 72-48 shellacking of Shick Razor ’84/92 in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association’s 11th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.
Mark Eugene Bukiron pumped in a season-high 34 points as Class ’99 took the temporary lead without defeat in three starts, so far. Albert Uy was the only other double-digit scorer for the RJX Transport-backed squad with 11 markers.
Class ’99 staged a searing 16-6 run in the second period to blow up an early18-12 lead into a 16-point bubble at halftime, 34-18. Class ’99 kept pounding on the hapless Class ’84/92 in the final half to come up with a 24-point rout.
Star center Sammy Sia charted 24 points for Class ’82/92, which slipped to its second straight loss.
In the nightcap, PTT Lubricants 2005 capitalized on a spirited endgame assault to turn back Young Builders ’91, 62-55.
Class 2005 trailed by two at the end of the third period, 39-41, but Kent Benedict Uy and Philip John Lua connived for 19 points in a tide-turning 23-14 rally in the windup that vaulted them to victory. Uy sank 12 of his topscoring 25 points in the final quarter, while Lua tossed in half of his 14 points in that stretch.
Ken Noeh Ang banged in 13 markers as Class 2005 bettered its win-loss record to 2-1.Tommy Yu and Juan Borromeo, Jr. each scored 18 points for Class ’91, which fell to 1-1.
