CEBU, Philippines - Host Cebu Blue Marlins Swim Club isn’t a gracious host after all at the pool. After yesterday’s 49 events, CBM has garnered 2,132 points to dominate other swim clubs competing in the 1st Osky Mabilog Memorial Cup at the Cebu City Sports Center.
The Blue Marlins are way ahead of second placer Negros Oriental Blue Dolphins who has 687 points. Iloilo Sea Warriors Swim Club is third with 641 points while Cagayan de Oro is at fourth place with 478 points and the Blue Sharks Swimming Club at fifth spot with 263 points.
CBM has also won 24 gold medals in the event sanctioned by the Philippine Amateur Swimming Association.
Leading the team is Michael David Vega with four gold medals in the men’s 18 over division. Vega told The FREEMAN that he’s dedicating his effort to his later grandfather Oscar Mabilog whom the event is named after.
Anthony Linn Navarro has contributed three golds, so far, while his sister Lyh Ann has gold. Noel and Trina Cañedo have three golds each as well.
The other bets of the Cebu Blue Marlins who contributed gold medals yesterday were Aimee Sanchez with three golds, Rian Tapang and Karen Indaya with two golds each, Beverly Vasig, Romylyn Ignacio and Kristina Torres with a gold each.— Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
