Young Builders, RJX Transport triumph in CECABA cagefest
CEBU, Philippines - Young Builders ’91 and RJX Transport Solutions ’99 and crushed the opening day winners in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association’s 11th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.
Class ’91 rode on a fiery second-quarter uprising to fluster GCM Merchandise ’98-B, 58-47, while Class ’99 went strong in the windup to fend off the stubborn Chester Enterprises ’82/83, 59-55.
Kevin Co, Juan Borromeo and Tommy Yu conspired for 33 points to vault Class ’91 to a flying start.
They masterminded a sizzling 20-10 rally that towed them to an 11-point advantage at halftime, 31-20. The Young Builders-backed squad then neutralized the offense of Class ’98-B in the final half to preserve the double-digit win.
In the other game, Mark Eugene Bukiron had 14 points and Albery Uy added 13 markers for Class ’99, which played with grace under pressure to frustrate Class ’82-83.
Class ’99 trailed by a hairline after three quarters, 40-41, but Uy, Troy Symington Tan, and Ruben Yap Jr. launched a spirited endgame run to turn the tables on Class ’82/83.
