1st Rotary Run set this Sunday

-

CEBU, Philippines - Over 700 runners will join the Cebuano Rotarians for the inaugural Cebu Rotary Run at the Cebu Business Park this Sunday.

Although the Rotary Club had been in Cebu for more than 75 years now, it is only this time that they are able to organize a running event.

In a press conference at BigFoot yesterday, Rotary Week chairperson Lilu Alino of the Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris said the event is a fitting kick-off activity for the Rotary Week.

Also, it is Rotary’s way of showing concern to the environment, promote healthy lifestyle as well as awareness to the public on what the Rotary Club is all about.

The event features two race lengths, the 5K and 10K run both for the men and women’s division.

Interested parties will have only until this Saturday to register. Registration centers include the Freestar Arcade in Subangdaku, Mandaue City and the Philippine Sports Commission-VII office at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Entry fee is pegged at P150 inclusive of a singlet.

The top peformers will get cash prizes, medals and gift items.

On top of winning, joining the race is already a distinct opportunity for the runners to contribute something for the Rotary Foundation and other community outreach projects that the Rotarians are involved with.

After running, the Rotarians will gather again for three other sporting events - golf, badminton and bowling. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol   (THE FREEMAN)
