Amancia Brokers lash back at MJDL in Collector's Cup

-

CEBU - The Amancia Brokers pulled off a vengeful 72-68 victory over the MJDL Brokers to stay on top of the heap in the 35-below division of the 14th District Collector’s Cup basketball tournament the other day at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.

The Amancia Brokers now hold a 5-1 win-loss record, while MJDL slipped to 3-3.

Freddie Niñel topped Amancia with 22 points. He got ample scoring support from the tandem of Gilbert Giducos and Biboy Potencioso with 16 and 13 points, respectively.

Baeng Medalle scored all his 15 points for MJDL Brokers from beyond the arc. Danny Infantado had 14 points in a losing cause.

In the 35-above matches, the Mactan Hotmen of team owner Bingo Matugas and coach Dacky Ugay nailed their sixth consecutive win at the expense of the struggling District Collector’s Office, 111-68, while the Office of the Commissioner (O-COM) clobbered the Enforcement Security Service, 66-51.

The District Collector’s Office of coach Atty. Paul Alcazaren fell to 2-5, but could still make it into the next round depending on how the other teams fared especially that the CCBI and C-CUPA are already out of contention.

The O-Com improved its chances as it climbed to second spot with a 4-2 win-loss record, while the 2-3 ESS can still advance into the semis if it sweeps its last two games.
