Cebu - The Amancia Brokers hammered out a convincing 76-65 victory over the struggling Pimentel Brokers to regain the solo lead in the 35-below division of the 14th Collector’s Cup at the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Sports Complex in Brgy. Punta Princesa, this city.
With a 4-1 win-loss record, Amancia could now gain respect as the legitimate title contender and will surely give defending champion MJDL a run for its money.
Amancia’s lone setback though was inflicted by MJDL, which is currently breathing down its neck with a 3-2 win-loss card.
Once again, Freddie Niñel sparked Amancia’s offense with 19 points. He was ably backed up by Biboy Potencioso with 15 markers even as three others dished out twin figures.
Former General Milling pointguard Michael Macasero topscored for Pimentel Brokers with 18 points. Adonis Morata added 14 points but their efforts went in vain as they slipped to 2-3.
In the 35-above twinbill, the Office of the Commissioner (O-Com) defeated the Chamber of Customs Brokers Inc. (CCBI), 93-82, while the Port Operations Division (POD) slammed the Cebu-Customs United Personeros Association (C-CUPA), 96-70.
O-Com, POD and C-CUPA have similar 3-2 win-loss records, while CCBI (0-5) and Mactan Hotmen (0-4) are the only winless teams, so far, in the 35-above division.
