Cebu - Nonoy Jopson flashed the form that once made him as one of Cebu’s top triathletes to dominate the first ever Pipti-Pipti Mini-Triathlon competition at the Scuba World over the weekend in Lapu-Lapu City.
There were several top-caliber athletes as well a newcomers who competed, but Jopson bravely showed he still has moves that made him a record-holder in RP triathlon.
The Cebu-based Jopson bested the little-known Elmo Cabral for the top post.
One of the race organizers, RJ Balbuena, proved that he cannot only help run an event smoothly but is also competitive enough to settle for third place honors.
Another former top local triathlete Eugene Sanchez wound up fourth.
In the “mountainbike” category for participants using the said kind of bike, Jeje Simbajon claimed the championship crown.
Gabriel Lamparas got the second place, while female entry Mary Ann Nillas and Vincent Lamparas occupied the third and fourth sports of the event supported by Vellum, Sugbu Triathlon and Scuba World. —Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
