CEBU - Extreme sports enthusiasts will be treated to some breath-taking aerial stunts as two Cebuanos will perform a free fall and parachute exhibition together with some world-class parachuters beginning today at the South Road Properties (SRP).
Among the Cebuanos who are raring for their first free fall jump are Anthony Chua of the Journey Under My Parachute Club and lawyer Steve Dicdican. The rest who will execute the heart-pounding show are world-class parachuters Herman Landsman, Simon Henry Woerlee and cameraman Martijn Van Dam of Holland and Voughan Brady of New Zealand.
The Sky Experience Adventure-sponsored parachuters are scheduled to take four jumps today and tomorrow. Chua and Dicdican will show off what they learned from the Acceleration Free Fall course they underwent through Landsman.
If the two Cebuanos can pass the standards after the seventh jump, they can already do a free fall sky diving on their own.
Landsman and the three other sky divers will also have a demonstration during the Sinulog grand mardi gras.
Landsman’s team wanted to land at the Cebu City Sports Center, but acting mayor Michael Rama refuses to give permit to avoid another accident experienced by some sky divers in the previous Sinulog spectacles.
Councilor Sylvan “Jack” Jakosalem though hopes that Rama would reconsider his decision.
“I am not losing hope that acting mayor Rama may consider since this group are professional skydivers and I told him they are so skilled that they can even land on the stage if he wants. They even prepared a Philippine flag colored parachute for it. It would be a spectacle to watch,” Jakosalem said.
Eight other daring Cebuanos who wanted to go sky diving with Landamsn and company can do via the tandem but on a first-come-first-served basis.
For those who can’t make the cut, however, the Sky Experience Adventure at Club Ultima offers an alternative for individuals to try edge coaster, sky walk extreme, and the 4-D adventure.
