Cebu City jocks bag 11 golds in POF event

Team Cebu City garnered a total of 11 golds, eight silvers and 15 bronzes to rank 13th out of 66 competing local government units at the close of the 3rd Philippine Olympic Festival in Cagayan de Oro City.

TCC’s medal tally includes four golds,three silvers and two bronzes from karatedo, 2-1-3 from taekwondo, two from football, 1-4-5 from swimming, a gold and two bronzes from judo.

The Queen City of the South also got a gold in powerlifting although Maria Christine Redina and three bronzes from archery’s Jason Habel de Castro.

In taekwondo, the golds care from lightweight Karen Joy Fontanilla and welterweight Lovely Rose Lim.

In karatedo, Sidney Metante had two golds through the boys 12-13 kata and kumite. His teammates Joshua Famador got a gold in the boys 10-11 kata and a silver in the kumite and Korina Eclona with gold in the girls 12-13 kata.

Swimmer Anthony Linn Navarro bagged TCC’s lone gold in swimming plus three silvers and a bronze from the relay under the POF classification. The other gold belonged to judoka Alford Marimon.

The other silvers came from Alhexis Enad and Alejandro Navarro in karatedo, Lord Jay Guia in taekwon, swimmer Michael Kong in swimming.

The rest of TCC’s bronzes came from karateka Er Labura, taekwondo bets Catherine Bas, Arvin Festin and Rovel Mendoza, judokas Joaquin Fernandez and Allan Antigua, and swimmers Danielle Ballesteros, Trina Caneda, Lyhn Ann Navarro and Danielle Biscocho. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
