Inaugural Community Outreach Children's Games set Dec. 22

CEBU - It’s all systemts go for the First Community Outreach Children’s Games on December 22 to 23 at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Spearheaded by Philippine Sports Commissioner Fr. Vicente “Vic” L. Uy, SVD, the project involves mostly Muslim and Christian out-of-school youths.

A total of 10 teams will take part in the inaugural staging of the event, two of which coming from the Muslim community, one from the streetchildren, and the rest from the different barangays.

The two-day contest features six sportings events - athletics, basketball, table tennis, volleyball, badminton and chess.

The success of the event will be the basis of Fr. Uy in initiating a community-based sports program.

The PSC believes there are a lot of raw talents in the provinces that could be honed into a top-caliber athletes and eventually bring honor and pride to the country in major competitions here and abroad.–Caecent No-ot Magsumbol   (THE FREEMAN)
