AC Sports hurdles debut in BEBA caging

CEBU - AC Sports of team owner Archie Baba dumped Christine Jane, 65-54, to kick off their campaign on a bright note in the 35-above category of the Barangay Ermita Basketball Association (BEBA) 2nd Conference Christmas League at the Ermita Sports Complex.

Down by 10 points in the first period, 10-20, the AC Sports countered with a spirited rally to gain the upperhand at the start of the second quarter. AC Sports eventually closed the first half with a 31-25 advantage behind the troika of Tony Piloton, Henry Cabarrubias and Baba himself.

Christine Jane threatened for the last time, 46-48, only to lose steam towards the end of the match.

Rabone Surmion and Pitolon paced AC Sports with 13 and 12 points, respectively, while Cabarrubias and Baba chipped in 10 points apiece.

Christine Jane was led by 6-foot-1 center Martin Torreon with a game-high 21 points. Victor Macaraya tossed in 16 markers in a losing cause.
