Tagacay hands Bullos first loss, Yaw-Yan ArDigma fighters win in URCC event

CEBU - Lino “The Terminator” Tagacay scored an earth-shaking victory over the previously undefeated Cary “The Prince” Bullos in the main attraction of the country’s biggest Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event billed as the "Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC)-Cebu III: Nemesis" on Saturday night at the Cebu International Convention Center.

Tagacay, a former bantamweight champion from Gym Kata Manila, overpowered Bullos by way of tap out in the first round.

“As I told you before, I am pretty much determined to win this fight. I am happy that I was able to make it. For me, Bullos is a tough opponent, but I am so thankful that I was able to dominate over him. At his age, I believe that he will be one of the must-see fighters in the mixed martial arts scene,” said Tagacay in a post-fight interview.

The 32-year-old Tagacay, a member of the Philippine Army support group, proved that it's not yet the end of his MMA career.

“This is a more important fight for Lino (Tagacay) and it is a career-decider for him. The match gave a lot of pressure for Lino than for Cary, nothing was taken away from Cary, ” said URCC Manila coordinator Franz Von Muhlfeld.

Despite Bullos' setback, the Cebuanos still have something to cheer for as some of their bets bannered by Maxlito Yong, Geronimo Etac, and Leo Gaerlan of Yaw-Yan ArDigma Cebu outwrestled their respective rivals. Yong stopped Jet Lumawag of Bacolod Fight Club in the first round, Etac pounded Joselito Loregas of Fitma Fighting Lions also in round one, while Gaerlan knocked out Jan Selaryo of Bacolod.

Alvin Amistoso of Mix Faction Cebu defeated Nirlax de Café of Bacolod Wushu, Jimmy Yabo of Seldef Cebu thumped Alan Orong of Fit Ma Fighting Lions via RSC (Referee Stopped Contest) in the second round, while Demetrio Delatore Cmac Main Cebu edged out Bacolod's Victor Torre

Meanwhile, the match between Anthony Oledan of Elements Gym Manila and Enjie Piloto of Yaw-Yan ArDigma Cebu had no winner.
