CEBU - www.cebucycling.com will be celebrating its 3rd birthday this Saturday at Kalye 80 at R. Rahmann St, Cebu City, from 3-9PM.
The main event of the celebrations will be a bike show; with Cebu’s best bicycles- from exotic titanium to carbon fiber to the very reliable steel- will be there for everyone to salivate. On the road category, VELLUM President Miguel Flores will present his Elemente while Capitol Cosultant Jong Sepulveda will present 2 bikes from his stable, a VELLUM Equilibrium and a COLNAGO Bitanio. Architect Sankx Ontanillas’ PINARELLO PRINCE and Ramon Vidal of TWO Sandals SCOTT Addict will also be there along with Dodong “Gamay” Frasco’s COLNAGO C-40.
The time trial bikes of Dan Wistehuff (VELLUM Uno), Nonoy Jopson (ARGON), Sankx Otanillas (VELLUM Helium), to name a few, will also be there.
Not to be left out are tricked MTB’s with brands made by LYNSKY, IBIS Mojo, TITUS, SANTA CRUZ and SEVEN. I think the surprise could come from the King of Bling, Ome Rodriguez who is currently putting up a MERLIN just in tie for the show!
Expected to attend are UCI MTB Commisaire Boying Rodriguez and Danao Mayor Ramonito Durano, both strong proponents of the bicycle.
Anyway, I’d like to give the rest of this column the founder of cebucycling.com, Noel Ting, to tell us on how it all started.
The CebuCycling Online Group first came to life on Januray 12, 2004. It started out as an e-group using the Yahoo! eGroups broadcast email service. I was working with computers then and was bitten by the cycling bug. My passion for cycling didn’t stop on the road bikes, and I wanted to expand cycling using all the resources I had from my work. So the cebucycling@yahoogroups was born.
My main objective of the egroup was to post information about Training and Race Schedules. As a matter of fact, when the official domain name. Cebucycling.com was launched, it was not a forum but a website with the information about Race Results and Future Race schedules.
But to my pleasant surprise, cyclists also have another hobby…Talking!!!
Every day, new members registered on the Yahoo! E-Group and I wasn’t happy about receiving a lot of emails because like any other egroups, some of the conversations were not interesting. I had to find another solution but I didn’t want to get rid of all the members. So I converted the cebucycling.com website into a forum.
Currently, CebuCycling is very proud of its 1475 active members who has only one thing in mind- cycling! It is the most active online cycling community in the Philippines. Filipino cyclists from as far as the US, Europe, and Middle east are very active on the forum. Practically everything you need to know about cycling is already there.
