Team Cebu City fields 120 to national dancesport tilt

- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -

CEBU - Dancesport-Team Cebu City is sending a big delegation to the 2008 DSCPI National Dancesport Championships at Philsports Arena in Pasig City today.

A total of 120 athletes from DTCC will be seeing action.

Aside from the members of DTCC, some other Cebuano privateers and groups are also expected to see action today, just like in the previous outings both in Cebu and in Manila .For DTCC, the top two couples to watch will be the future SEA Games bets Anna and Joel Madera and Carol Bacera and Gerald Halili.

The Madera couple proved that their upset victory against top-ranked dancesporters during Cebu City ’s hosting of the DSCPI’s mid-year ranking competition was without bias after doing well in the other action including the SEA Games try-out.

Cebu City Sports Commission’s dancesport director Edward Hayco, however, is not promising that they could duplicate the historic 25-out-of-27 gold medals they got during July’s outing here.

Hayco told The FREEMAN yesterday that the reason for sending a big delegation is because it’s the final event of the year as far as the DanceSport

Council of the Philippines Incorporated is concerned.

However, most of the athletes who belong to DTCC are said to have spent their time mostly on the year-round workshop and barangay competition which takes place every weekend.

“This is a cycle we have to live with so the team will keep growing and mature into an institution that will have life on its own. We have to keep toiling the fields for the forest to grow thick and abundant,” Hayco said. (THE FREEMAN)
