USJ-R and UC to compete in Visayas Zonals of PCCL
Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) losing finalist University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars and fourth placer University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters will join the Visayas qualifying round of the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) starting tomorrow at the Ormoc Superdome in Ormoc City.
The Ormoc eliminations will be held from November 8-11. A separate Zonals will be held in Cagayan de Oro City for the Mindanao cluster.
The Jaguars, who lost to the eigth-time champion University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers in the best-of-five finals, 3-1, last October 8, are bracketed under Group B along with West Negros College and Bohol Institute of Technology-International College (BIT-C).
The Webmasters, on the other hand, fall under Group A alongside NCAA third placer Letran Knights and the AMA Computer College-Ormoc.
In the opening game on Saturday, the Webmasters will take on AMA and then the Letran Knights later in the day.
The crossover semifinals will be done the following day, with the winners advancing into Manila for the final Round of 16 that includes UV as a shoo-in qualifier.
Competing in the Cagayan de Oro leg are CESAFI third placer University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors, University of Mindanao, Capitol University, Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws, Ateneo de Zambaonga and Xavier University. (GGM) (THE FREEMAN)
