2008 Ms Motosuit Motocross Series 12th LEG : Adlawan shines with two titles
CEBU - Jon-Jon Adlawan emerged as the winningest rider with a double championship finish in the 12th leg of the 2008 MS Motosuit Motocross Series dubbed as Mayor Avelino Gungob Sr. Cup last Saturday at the newly-built racetrack in Consolacion.
Adlawan is not a consistent competitor in this year’s series, but he made sure that every time he joins a race, he will make an impact. And he did.
It was not an easy contest though with the rocky surface causing a lot of trouble for the riders including special guest entry Glenn Aguilar, who suffered a mishap in the experts class.
After the first heat, Aguilar did not return to the experts class anymore. He just kept his focus on the pro race, thus, paving the way for an easier ride for Adlawan.
Adlawan defeated Irwin Ramas-Uypitching for the top spot in the experts class, while Juvanni Abellar took the third place honors.
Adlawan of PowerSports Racing pulled off his second triumph in the intermediate class over Clark Wagas and Winsor Famorca. Adding feather on Adlawan’s cap was a third place finish in the pro race dominated by Aguilar followed by Uypitching.
Aguilar may have suffered a slight injury, but he hardly felt the pain after seeing his son McLean ruling the mini class over Seigfred Ornopia’s son Brylle. PJ Pepito wound up third.
Like Glenn, Seigfred Ornopia also lived up to the old adage “like father, like son” by topping the executive B action. He also settled for third in the executive A won by Arnold Ignacio.
The mini open, on the other hand, saw Keith Galaura taking away the crown over Banjong Monilar and JR Tagaloguin, while the executive C had Butch Flores clinching the title.
Monilar made up from his setback in the mini open by lording it over in the local enduro. Likewise, Wagas bounced back from his defeat in the intermediate race by dominating the novice open production.
Ian Reyes, who had been out of the motocross scene for quite a while now, returned with a champion’s trophy in the beginner’s open. He outclassed Ryan Quirol as Donkey Sanchez landed third.
Sanchez still has something to brag about as he reigned supreme in the novice open enduro. He finished ahead of Dario Labor Jr. and Bonnie Bustillo in the event sponsored by Imarflex Evvo, Castrol, RMO, Reliance Motorsales, Cebu Progress Marketing, and Chowking-Consolaction branch. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
