Manigos led top winners in third Gullas Cup Shootfest

CEBU - Minglanilla’s James Vincent Manigos led the cast of winners in the 3rd Gullas Cup Shootfest that drew a record-field 180 entries at Maghaway Firing Range in Talisay City.

Manigos snatched two titles. He topped the standard after outsmarting Brandon Lariosa and Benson Yu, who settled for second and third, respectively. If he had had to go through a tough match in the standard division, his second title was without pressure as he didn’t have any opponent in the standard junior class.

On the other hand, Mateo Jesus Bacalso and Gina Gacho came up with a gold and a silver apiece.

Bacalso ruled the standard division for all Cebu Talisay Aqua City Gun Club members and got a silver in the production division. Gacho reigned supreme in the women’s standard division and picked up silver in the standard law/military single stack division won by Dale Efe.

Bernard Camacho was the best in the standard single stack, while Eleno Kong lorded it over in the standard division exclusively for the organizing club members.

Controversial SWAT member Adonis Dumpit once again reaffirmed his marksmanship by dominating the hi-cap division, while Fredilson Codilla claimed the production class champion’s trophy. Lyndon Solatorio ruled the single stack category.

In the open division, Rey Abad, reportedly a range officer from Texas, finished the best among the rest. He outgunned Sherwin Tan for the top spot as Sandie Tan wound up third.

Conrado Alega got the production title, while Christopher Panes won the revolver standard class.

In the special category, the other top performers of the different divisions were Ric Bono (open senior), Jacento Rentuza (senior production), Jennifer Chua (ladies) and Erwin Estandarte (senior standard).

The range officers were not left behind in the PPSA Level-1 sanctioned event as they had a competition among themselves before the regular shooters showcased their wares.

Junivan Villanueva ruled the the standard single stack, while Ernesto Reyes topped the production class.—Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
