CEBU - The Sacred Heart School-Jesuit (SHS-J) and St. Alphonsus Catholic School (SACS) of Lapu-Lapu City scored contrasting wins in the Hapee Online Challenge Cup basketball tournament at the Guadalupe Sports Complex.
In the Under-17 category, the SHS-J Eagles rode on the heroics of flashy guard Kyle Edwin Valmoria to outsmart the Cebu Institute of Technology (CIT) Hoop It Up, 65-57, while SACS proved too hot to handle for the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons, 63-37, to reach the 12-under semifinal round.
Valmoria was almost hitting from all angles to pace the Eagles with 25 points. Defense was the other factor of SHS-J’s resounding triumph as they limited CIT’s scoring machine Clyven Nebron Limalima to only 14 points. The credit goes to SHS-J’s defensive gem Jomari Dinsay.
Ryan Reynes, on the other hand, topped SACS’ scoring chart with 18 points.
