CEBU - A total of 30 teams joined the inaugural season of the 1st Unit III (Carbon Market) basketball tournament at the newly-built open court in Brgy. Ermita, this city.
The participants are divided into three categories: juniors (20 years old and below), seniors (20-above) and 35-above.
The event is among the highlights of the annual fiesta of Ermita in honor of its beloved patron St. Jude Thaddeus.
The tournament was made possible through the efforts of Unit III officers headed by barangay councilor Domingo “Jun” Ando, who is the chairman of the sports and entertainment committee, along with Weny Miro (vice chairman).
It is sponsored by the CEMVEDCO Cooperative headed by its president and No. 1 Ermita barangay councilman Erwin Goc-ong, Unit III Stallholders Association, Inc. led by its president Lily Malazarte, Reynaldo Velasquez (vice president), Vivian Ando (secretary), Emily Despi (treasurer) and Florita Bontuyan (auditor).
The board of directors of the Unit III caging include Ermita Brgy. Captain Felicisimo Rupinta and the barangay council, Clarisa Otadoy, Maria Castro, Rudy Fundar, Evelyn Ardiente, Luningning Laborte, and Ambrosio Lauron. (GGM) (THE FREEMAN)
