CEBU - In another first in Cebu boxing history, three WBO regional championship fights dubbed as “Saga in Naga” will take place tonight in Naga City. The surefire explosive triple-header is another presentation of international promoter Sammy Gello-ani of SGG Sports Promotions in association with the city government of Naga under the leadership of Mayor Val Chiong.
In the main event, Ramie Laput of the Davao-based American Boxing Academy (ABA) Gym will take on Mongkolchai Singmanasak of Thailand for the WBO Asia-Pacific interim super bantamweight title, while another ABA stalwart Fernado Lumacad will go against Saensaknoi Sor Muangklang for the interim WBO Oriental flyweight crown.
Both the Thai visitors had to shed off extra poundage before making the regulatory weight limit during the official weigh-in supervised by WBO vice president Leon Panoncillo and Rolando Mendoza of the Games and Amusements Board (GAB)-7.
In the other main feature, flyweight prospect Marvin Sonsona of General Santos City will trade bombs with the Manila-based Joel Rafols for the WBO Youth title showdown.
The rest of the slambang card pits Fabio Marfa vs. Ronald Castrodes, Reil Mandate vs. Ryan Tampus, Jongwoon Choi vs. Jestoni Pepito, Rolando Magallano vs. Dizon Dag-ong. – EBV (THE FREEMAN)
