Dumlog captures seniors division crown of Talisay City hoop

CEBU - Team Dumlog whacked Tabunok 1, 97-87, in their sudden-death final to seize the seniors division championship of the 2008 Talisay City Mayor’s Cup Basketball Tournament the other night at the city’s sports and cultural center.

Dumlog trailed by 10 points after one of its key players Nestor Bardillas was held scoreless in the second period.

However, Dumlog quickly woke up from deep offensive slumber, outscoring Tabunok 1 in the third period, 32-12, to turn the tide of the match in its favor the rest of the way.

Bardillas, Karl Ocañada, Filomeno Garces and Jhake and Albert Villaver stepped up bigtime at the endgame to buffer Dumlog to victory.

Bardillas paced Dumlog with 24 points to become the hands-down choice as MVP. He automatically made it to the Mythical Five alongside his teammate Karl Ocanada, Tabunok 2’s Peter Jake Alferez, Tabunok 1’s Jezreel Meting, and Poblacion 1’s Diosdado Iglamo Jr.

In the battle for third, Poblacion 1 eked out a thrilling 94-93 win over Tabunok 2.
