Remember nips Ave Maria in M. Lhuillier U-21 hoop

CEBU - Team Remember dealt Ave Maria Sanctuary Park its first loss but had to pass through the wringer before pulling off an 82-81 squeaker in the 6th M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala Under-21 Developmental Basketball League at the Consolacion Sports Complex.

Ave Maria was leading almost the entire game including at 67-58 after three quarters, but Remember of Consolacion Vice Mayor Ember V. Alinsug and Poblacion Oriental barangay councilor Paul Alelu Q. Flores crept back with savvy to forge an 80-all deadlock with 32 seconds left to play.

In the ensuing sequence, Abing was fouled but could only make one out of two free throws to put Ave Maria of coach Marlon Piodo back on top, 81-80.

Again, Remember equalized the count at 81-all on Somosot’s free throw with 23 ticks left before the final buzzer.

Ave Maria could have snatched the win, but failed to make one good play in its final possession. Ermac only split his charities but it was more than enough to vault Remember to victory with four seconds to go in the contest.

Remember, thus, joined its victim at second place in the overall standings with identical 2-1 win-loss records in the two-month tilt organized by the M. Lhuillier Sports Development Foundation (MLSDF) through the efforts of its executive director Eddie B. Ybañez.
