CEBU - Niño Surban and Robert Villaber led the cast of winners in the 2008 Danao City Road & Mountainbike Competition the other day. Surban emerged as the fastest in mountainbike, while Villaver reigned supreme in the road race.
Surban finished the race in 33 minutes and 30.06 seconds, while Earl Cadampog wound up second with a 36:06.39 clocking.
The other winners in the Danao City Sports Commission-organized event were Eusebio Cabanes (seniors), Delfin Delfin (juniors), Junasis Alicaway (masters A), and Francisco Macayan (masters B).
In the road race, Robert Villaber finished ahead of Albert Basergo. The third to fifth finishers were Randy Carbonera, Jaybop Pagnanawon and Jovanni Delica.
Boy Pagnanawon grabbed part of the limelight after ruling class B action over Orlan Toring. Nilo Barbalose, who opted to race in class B class, could only muster third place.
Jonathan Simbajon, on the other hand, remained unstoppable in the By Invitation (BI) category. This time, he defeated Rudy Mendoza for the top spot, while Lito Quebec paced third.
Rudy Cordero topped the golden boys class also known as the “Red Baron” race. Gary Fernandez and Fabian Ybas occupied the second and third spots. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
